First Chance I

June 2-5, 2019

Dean:  Matthew Spaulding

Grade:  2-3

Cost:  $140

Theme:  Lord of All Creation

Isn’t it great to know that God, who created everything, took the time to make us in His image? We are going to talk about creation and talk about how God deserves our praise. We hope to see you at First Chance 1!

The Lord merely spoke,

   and the heavens were created.

He breathed the word,

and all the stars were born.

7

He assigned the sea its boundaries

and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.

8

Let the whole world fear the Lord,

and let everyone stand in awe of him.

9

For when he spoke, the world began!

   It appeared at his command.

Psalm 33:6-9 NLT

In John 21:5-6 Jesus gives instructions to His disciples on how to have a life more abundant found in following Him.  He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” ”No,” they answered. He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. When the disciples listened to the words Jesus said and did as he instructed they not only received what they were needing, but He also had the fire and bread prepared to make the meal complete. We often think that ‘we’ have to make it all work out, that we are in control of whether things fail or succeed- but we aren’t. God’s in control and will not only make it work out, but make it work so much better than we could have if only we follow Him. In God’s word, we will find his instructions to have a life more abundant. This week will take place at beautiful Lake Barkley where we will be spending time worshiping God, sharing in Christian fellowship and learning in God’s word. Bring a pole to catch fish that we will be eating. Don’t forget your swimsuit and sunscreen for swimming in the lake or in the pool. You can also take out the kayaks, paddleboard, or bounce on the waves behind a boat while making memories with Christian friends to last a life time.

Theme:  On Our Side

When the world seems to be against us, He is for us….He’s on our side!  We are more than conquerors! “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Roman 8:31 In the battles of everyday life some think that everything is against us, but God is always with us and He’s on our side. God is more than the superhero, He gives us the strength of the Holy Spirit. We do not have to have superheroes to save us, we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and make us super! Come find out more about the super strengths God gives to us for the battles of life. In addition to all the recommendations for your week of camp, make sure to bring plenty of old clothes and old tennis shoes, so we can play in the creek!
